Congratulations!

Congratulations on successfully registering your child(ren) in the CEED Summer Nature Experience 2020! Our summer program is geared for nature discovery and exploration, and will be challenging, fun, engaging, inspiring and full of nature-based activities. Your child(ren) will have an amazing nature experience!

As a reminder, the program will be held on the grounds of Post Morrow Foundation at 16 Bay Road, Brookhaven Hamlet. The grounds include many acres of trails and boardwalk through forest and marsh along Beaver Dam Creek, plus an indoor classroom space in case of inclement weather and for special projects. Though we plan to be outside as much as possible. Please review CEED’s COVID-19 Protocols below for details on the procedures that will be implemented to help keep everyone safe during the program.

Health Forms

Please download, complete and return the 2020 Summer Nature Experience Health Form (PDF) for each child registered.

NO CHILD WILL BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE CEED SUMMER NATURE EXPERIENCE WITHOUT A COMPLETED HEALTH FORM ON FILE.

Please note that your CHILD(REN)’S PHYSICIAN MUST COMPLETE AND SIGN THE HEALTH FORM for it to be considered complete. Immunization records can be attached to the form. It is particularly important this year that ANY ALLERGIES OR HEALTH CONCERNS be listed on your child(ren)’s Health Form.

Completed Health Forms must be received no later than 2 weeks before the start of the program session. In an effort to be flexible during these difficult times, we are waiving the $25 late processing fee that normally applies if the Health Form is submitted less than 2 weeks prior to the camp session. But please make every effort to return your completed Health Form on time, and get in touch with us if you expect a delay.

Please email completed forms to info@ceedli.org or mail to: CEED Summer Nature Experience, PO Box 295, Brookhaven, NY 11719. Please email or call 631.803.6780 for any questions or concerns.

What to expect at the CEED Summer Nature Experience:

We are so excited to be planning an amazing nature experience this year! But we must also keep participants, staff and volunteers safe.  During this difficult time, we are invested more than ever to provide a safe haven for your child(ren) this summer. Our COVID-19 safety protocols can be reviewed here.

It is essential that parents/guardians review CEED’s COVID-19 Protocols and feel comfortable that your child(ren) will be able to follow directions from the program staff, and the PPE, physical distancing, hygiene and other requirements for this program.  To reduce unnecessary exposure, as much as possible, we will be keeping each group of 10 children and their assigned staff separated throughout the day. Hand washing and hand sanitizing stations will also be available each day.

We will be outdoors A LOT, so please dress your child(ren) in clothes that can get dirty, and are comfortable and suitable for outdoor exploration in current weather conditions.  Sneakers or closed toed sandals or water shoes are strongly recommended. Please avoid flip flops and Crocs.

Your child(ren) should bring a backpack each day with the following suggested items:

Lunch (for children staying for FULL DAY only)

Water bottle and snacks (peanut and tree nut-free only, please): we can’t stress enough how important packing water and snacks are for the safety, comfort and happiness of your child(ren)!

A preferred face covering, if your child has one (CEED will provide face coverings, as well).

Sunscreen (please apply before camp and bring extra to re-apply)

Insect repellant

Hat and/or sunglasses

Towel (sometimes we get wet!)

Change of clothes (especially for Mud Day!)

Medications/epi-pen/inhaler (if applicable, with instructions and permissions provided)

Drop-Off / Pick-Up:

Daily drop off and pick up runs 15 minutes before and after program start and end times. We may implement slightly staggered drop off/pick up times to avoid unnecessary congregating of parents and children. We will be in touch prior to the first program day to clarify any specific procedures. Please be courteous to our staff and volunteers by making every effort to be prompt and to follow drop off/pick up instructions. Please contact our Program Director, Ranger Eric Powers at 631-241-0088, if you are running late. Please be sure that we have the name of every person that is authorized to pick up your child(ren).  We will not release your child(ren) to anyone who does not have your prior authorization.

For Full Day participants, please pack your child(ren) a bag lunch, water bottle, and snacks each day. Half Day participants just need a water bottle and snacks. Refrigeration will be provided. We will not be supplying any food for children due to the high number of food allergies, except possibly pre-packaged ice pops. If another child in your session has a peanut allergy, we may require that all children attending the session eliminate all peanut products from lunches and snacks.

We look forward to meeting your child(ren) and are honored to serve as their nature guides to discover the natural world up close and personal!  Be prepared for your child(ren) to come home dirty, smiling, inspired, happy and full of stories of adventure at the end of each day!

If you have any questions prior to the start of the session, please feel free to contact our office at (631) 803-6780 or email info@ceedli.org.

See you in July!

Sincerely,
Ranger Eric Powers & the CEED Summer Nature Experience Staff
